Lynn, the mother of 22 year-old Shawn Radocha from Weyer’s Cave, Virginia contacted L.I.F.E. for help.  After being diagnosed in January 2011, Shawn’s leukemia has returned for the third time.  After receiving treatment in his home state at a hospital in Virginia, they indicated they couldn’t go through with the transplant due to a fungal infection in his lung and he needed to seek another hospital.  He was scheduled to undergo a BMT in the beginning of June if his bone marrow shows no sign of Leukemia.  L.I.F.E. sent them funding to help pay for insurance co-pays, medication, and transportation to and from Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC.

Then on Friday, June 22, 2012 we sadly received the news that after a long and courageous battle with leukemia, Shawn surrendered his journey to be with the Lord.

Born on May 5, 1990, Shawn lived in Bethlehem, Pa., until the age of 11, when he and his family moved to Weyers Cave. He was proud to have attended Grace Christian School from 2005-09. After graduating high school, he went on to study aviation maintenance technology at Blue Ridge Community College. He also was employed at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Waynesboro.

Shawn was a cherished member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison Heights, where he was an inspiration to many. He touched the lives of others with his laugh, smile, humor and intelligence. Shawn taught others the true meaning of faith, courage, hope and love.

Shawn is survived by his loving mother and father, Lynn and Michael; his “little” sister, Breanna; grandparents, Joan and Ray Kanapsky; grandmother, Jean Radocha; his soul mate, Kimberly Beck; many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Shawn was a determined young man who lived his life to the fullest during his short time on earth. He fought the good fight, kept his faith and left us with many cherished memories. He is now in the hands of our heavenly father, pain-free and shaking things up on the other side. He will remain in our hearts forever. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.

A celebration of life will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at Church on the Hill in Waynesboro and also at 3 p.m. July 6 at Faith Baptist Church in Madison Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be accepted by the family.

Our most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Shawn’s family during this difficult time. We will continue to fight in Shawn’s beloved memory.
