Eric and Mike met with Dr. James Shull and Dr. Jing Zhang of the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research and donated $10,000 towards a leukemia research study on behalf of L.I.F.E.  They received a super cool tour of the building, and Dr. Zhang invited them to attend her Oncology 703 course, which of course they both did!

Dr. Shull is the Centennial Professor and Chairman, Department of Oncology and the Director of the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research.  Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Oncology and operates a research lab at McArdle that is focused on understanding how endogenous Ras/Raf/MEK signaling regulates development in leukemogenesis and tumorigenesis.  She is a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Postdoctoral Fellow, has received the Shaw Scientist Award (Greater Milwaukee Foundation), the Howard Temin Scientist Award (National Cancer Institute), the ASH Scholar Award (American Society of Hematology), and the V Scholar Award (V Foundation for Cancer Research).

Later Eric and Mike were interviewed live on NBC 15 by Emmy Award winning Leigh Mills to talk about Eric’s latest progress, as well a the donation to cancer research.  Click here to watch the live interview that aired on NBC15 on Monday October 24, 2011!
