2023 Survivor Grant Recipient: Sergeant Ian Schisel

Every year, the elementary school in the little town of Hortonville, WI organizes what they call the Game ON! Fundraiser, a program that “empowers their students to use their awesomeness to help others by creating an unstoppable movement of positivity, happiness, friendship and fun!” It helps the students understand the importance of giving back to the community, and every year they choose 2 local non-profit organizations to give the proceeds to. It is a massive effort that everyone in the school helps contribute to by asking the community for donations.

On Friday May 26th, 2023, Patty Blum, the physical education teacher for the school, met with Mary McLean, her son Mike McLean, and his 3 sons Mason, Wyatt, and Nolan who are all students at Hortonville Elementary, and presented the L.I.F.E. organization with a check for $3,000.00!!! 100% of all funds that are donated to L.I.F.E. are given directly to young adults currently battling cancer and experiencing financial hardship who are referred to us by their social workers. Our annual Survivor Grant is currently open for applications, and we will be announcing this year’s recipients in July.

To all of the children at Hortonville Elementary, their friends and families, to Patty Blum and all of the other teachers and faculty who work in the Hortonville Area School District that helped make this possible, we sincerely thank you for your kindness and generosity! This money is going to make an incredible difference. Please check back soon to see how we are putting your hard work to good use!
