Hello everyone,
Check out Eric’s newest video that he just put out tonight, #42. He seriously is a living miracle. http://www.facebook.com/l/
Last week Friday, Eric went in for a biopsy to have a core sample taken from his marrow. It has been a few months since the last one, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Well today he and our parents went back for a follow-up appointment for the results. And they came back CLEAN!! There were absolutely no leukemic blasts detected in the marrow! Even more than that, they ran a DNA check to see how many of his cells are that of his donor, our sister Lindsey, versus how many of his cells were his own. 100% of his cells are Lindsey’s! This is the best possible outcome, it’s like a dream. Eric might very well be cured! They will continue to test him routinely like they always have to make sure that his marrow remains clean. Eric my bro – you’ve got the heart of a lion. Even after being told that letting the disease run its course might be your best option, you said no and kept on fighting. It was you who went against the prognosis and said “Give me all you’ve got!” That spirit has paid off HUGE!
So now, it’s a Call to Arms! We need your help! This year we are going to try to raise $50,000 for L.I.F.E., which is a huge goal. We are putting together Team L.I.F.E. – a team of triathletes, runners, and cyclists willing to wear a L.I.F.E. uniform and raise money for the cause. If you or anyone you know would like to join, your uniform will be paid for, all that we ask is that you’d be willing to train/race with it and fundraise to the best of your ability for L.I.F.E.! You would also have your own individual fundraising page, and your profile and results would be posted on the http://www.facebook.com/l/
Of course, we don’t just need athletes to help us, we need the help of everyone to make this happen. If you’d like to donate, or if you have some ideas or events you’d like to share like a raffle, a car wash, or a silent auction – we need those too! 100% of funds raised will be given to individuals and families affected by cancer that are struggling with medical expenses, gas costs, co-pays, etc… We are also able to raise money for scholarships, as well as grants to research laboratories.
This fall I’ll be competing again in the Ironman WI and am participating in what is called the Janus Charity Challenge. I am one of a few dozen athletes in the Ironman that will be racing for a cause. The athlete to raise the most amount of money will win an additional $10,000 towards his/her charity. Athletes that raise the 10th most amount of money will still receive an additional donation towards his/her charity, so I’m totally going for it this year! My donation page is located here http://www.facebook.com/l/
Thank you everyone for all of your support!
Mike
